Our Equality Policy is designed to implement the commitment of Hawk Training to Equality and Diversity.

The aim of our provision is to create and maintain an inclusive working and learning environment that respects and celebrates diversity. This helps to create an atmosphere where all feel valued and empowered, regardless of the many ways that people are different, including race, disability, gender, gender reassignment, age, nationality, sexual orientation, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief, marital or civil partnership status, or socio-economic background.  Our policy also includes the necessity of reasonable adjustment for learners who experience persistent and significant difficulties in accessing and acquiring learning opportunities.

We believe that this vision of equality and diversity brings tangible benefits for our learners, and our employers with whom we work to enable the learning opportunities for all in a supportive and caring learning environment.

Therefore we will actively:

  • deal with all allegations of discrimination, harassment and victimisation sensitively and investigate fairly and thoroughly;
  • lead by example by promoting our values in our dealings with learners, employers, and others;
  • treat all individuals with dignity and respect, and actively promote a caring and supportive culture through the active demonstration of our values;
  • treat any form of discrimination, radicalisation, harassment or victimisation carried out by an individual as a matter for disciplinary action and referral where appropriate;
  • seek to endorse British values throughout our provision, by promoting the basic British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance for those of different faiths and beliefs.

and we will:

  • provide support for employers to improve their equality and diversity practices.

We believe it is the responsibility of all our staff, learners, and employers to work together towards combating all forms of discrimination including prevention of radicalisation by ensuring that British values are upheld, and the safeguarding of our learners in all its forms remains of paramount importance.

Hawk Training is one of the first members of The Chartered Institution.

The Chartered Institution for Further Education (FE Charter) is a body for the higher performing FE colleges and training providers in the UK. Its mission will be to bring together the best training providers across the sector and promote, recognise and celebrate their professionalism and success. Hawk Training was the first independent training provider to join the Institution.

Following inspection in 2013, Hawk Training was awarded Grade 1 ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.

Hawk was the first independent learning provider in the country to achieve a Grade 1 under the then Common Inspection Framework. The report recognised that Hawk provides outstanding training for learners and employers and included key findings on all areas, including recruitment of apprentices, quality of delivery, and effectiveness of management.

Extracts from the Ofsted Published Report 2013:
‘The recruitment of learners is very effective and individual programme planning carefully matches learners to employment opportunities.’

‘Highly skilled and enthusiastic staff serves as outstanding role models for learners.’

‘A wide range of high quality learning resources are utilised, which are easily accessible and used very effectively by learners to support their development.’

‘Employers work in partnership to provide excellent learning opportunities and offer additional challenges through bespoke projects or by extending learners’ responsibilities.’

‘Leadership and management are outstanding, leading to significant improvements in the quality of provision.’

Hawk Training currently holds the Investors in People Gold Award. Only 7% of UK organisations meet the Gold standard, which recognises the commitment shown to the career development of all employees.

In 2013, Hawk Training was named London Provider of the Year by the London Work Based Learning Alliance. The ceremony took place in December at the House of Commons with Andrew Jones (MP), the then Apprenticeship Ambassador to Parliament.
